What should I do this summer?

It's the beginning of summer for me. I'm 17, have little money, and live in a small town. I'm looking for something to do this summer. I've been searching for a job but no one's hiring and I'm thinking of volunteering but I don't know where to start looking for somewhere to volunteer. I just want something to keep me busy this summer that doesn't involve me driving around a lot, cost a lot of money, or keeps me cooped up in the house for to long. I already know the basic 'hang out with friends, go to movies, read' answers so I'd really appreciate some different ideas please. So who's got ideas?
