Do you believe that near death experiences are real?

A family friend was declared dead and then came back to life. She said that nothing happened. When she realized she was dying she was really scared about what was about to happen and then she felt totally at peace and....nothing. No white light, no tunnel, just nothingness. Then she woke up. Although I have heard that some people experience something like a white light and a tunnel and all of that. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
